Straight to the Point

Lisa Parker's "Snapping Beans" shows the difficulty in being completely open with other people, and how things, like the hickory leaf at the end of the poem, sometimes just blow loose when least expected.

S. Pearl Sharp's "It's the Law: A Rap Poem" shows that in order for these laws that people feel are unfair to change or to affect them less, people have to make a change in themselves and respect each other much more.

Langston Hughes "Thank You Ma'am" conveys that punishment won't change people, but teaching them a lesson and showing them what is right in a kind manner likely will.
