Quick Read

“Thank You, M’am” by Langston Hughes portrays the ability of one to realize his or her mistakes or faults through the special attention and kindness given by the person who was victimized by the wrongdoer.


“It’s the Law: A Rap Poem” by S. Pearl Sharp points out that our actions toward each other are what deem the laws in our country necessary and stresses the important of respecting others.


“Snapping Beans” by Lisa Parker shows the struggle of adapting to new surroundings, the close connection between a person and their roots, and the internal struggle of people to speak out and reach out to others when they are in need.
