A Salute to Hemingway

"It's the Law: A Rap Poem" by S. Pearl Sharp is a poem about educating yourself on how to respect yourself and other people; by doing so, you are able to understand the laws the government has put in place and follow them properly.

"Snapping Beans" by Lisa Parker describes a moment between a college student and her grandmother where her nervousness about what went on during her college experience keeps her from revealing to her grandma what really was going on, although, the grandma appears to understand that school isn't just "fine."

"Thank You Ma'am" by Langston Hughes shows the good nature of people, Roger thought he probably was going to get in trouble by attempting to steal her purse, however, Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones had a conversation with him, cleaned him, fed him, and gave him money to buy blue suede shoes.
