Short and Sweet: Theses on Hughes, Sharp, and Parker

Langston Hughes' short story "Thank You, M'am" shows that one learns more through a lesson of empathy, caring, and forgiveness, rather than through the consequences of a harsh punishment.

Poet S. Pearl Sharp uses rhythm, rhyme, and unique lyrics in her work "It's the Law: A Rap Poem" to emphasize the importance of laws -- furthermore, she expresses that we as Americans must respect one another, cooperate together, and love each other.

"Snapping Beans" by Lisa Parker suggests that hiding the truth does more harm than good -- like snapping beans from their skins, letting out one's emotions is not easy, but necessary.
